History of the Office of Academic Journal Administration
The office was originally established as the Academic Journal Unit under the Educational Services Division, Presidential Office, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL). The Educational Services Division was later renamed the Office of Academic Affairs and Research, and subsequently the Office of Academic Affairs and Educational Quality Assurance, respectively.
Since 2005, the office has been responsible for the production of KMITL's English-language academic journal under the title KMITL Science and Technology. (This journal was transferred from the School of Science, where it was previously published under the title KMITL Science Journal, first issued in 2000.) In 2017, the journal was renamed Current Applied Science and Technology (CAST), which continues to the present day. It is recognized as a high-quality journal indexed in both the national TCI (Tier 1) and the international Scopus databases.
The Office of Academic Journal Administration (OJA) was officially established by upgrading its status from the former Academic Journal Unit under the Office of Academic Affairs and Educational Quality Assurance to a new unit directly under the Presidential Office, in accordance with the Institute’s Announcement on the Internal Organizational Structure of the Presidential Office (No.5), 2020, dated February, 24, 2020.
The Office is responsible for managing and publishing the Institute’s international-quality academic journal, Current Applied Science and Technology (CAST); supervising and supporting academic journals of internal academic units to ensure compliance with national and international standards; providing English-language editing services for international research and academic articles; and performing other duties as assigned.
