Obligation
1. To develop and publish high-quality academic journals aligned with international standards.
2. To oversee and ensure that all institutional academic journals adhere to established national and international publication criteria.
3. To promote and improve the publication rate of research outputs by faculty and graduate students in internationally recognized journals.
History of the Office of Academic Journal Administration
The Office of Academic Journal Administration (OJA) is a unit under the Office of the President, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL). Its primary responsibilities include managing the Current Applied Science and Technology (CAST) journal to meet international quality standards, as well as providing support services for other academic activities.
Origins
The initiative began with the transfer of the KMITL Science Journal (first published in 2000) from the Faculty of Science to be administered under the Educational Services Division. In 2005, the journal was renamed KMITL Science and Technology and transitioned into an English-language academic journal.
Advancement to the International Level
In 2017, the journal was further elevated and renamed Current Applied Science and Technology (CAST). At present, CAST has been accredited for quality at both the national level (Thai Journal Citation Index: TCI Tier 1) and the international level, being indexed in the Scopus database.
Establishment of the Office of Journal Administration (OJA)
On February 24, 2020, the journal administration unit was formally upgraded and established as the Office of Journal Administration (OJA), a new unit under the Office of the President. The primary responsibilities of OJA include managing the CAST journal, overseeing academic journals within the institution, and providing English language editing services for academic manuscripts.
